Hyundai i20 sales more than double year-on-year.

8,371 new cars found a home in Slovakia in June, that’s a 4.3% year-on-year lift. The H1 tally is up 13.8% to 45,457 units. Skoda (+26.4%) soars to 21.1% share vs. 19.8% so far this year. It is followed at a distance by Hyundai (+9.6%) while Toyota (+31.3%) is also in great shape, meaning the entire podium beats the market. It’s a different picture for Kia (-7%), Volkswagen (-29.9%) and Dacia (-5.9%) all in negative below. In contrast Renault (+113.1%), Mercedes (+31.9%), BMW (+6.7%) and Peugeot (+6.1%) all outpace the overall growth in the remainder of the Top 10.
Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (+32.8%) easily tops the charts, confirming it is back in control of the Slovak market at #1 also over H1 whereas it ranked #5 over the Full Year 2022. The Skoda Fabia (+6.8%) returns to the 2nd place it now also holds year-to-date, distancing the Kia Ceed (-11.7%). The Hyundai i20 (+112.8%) leaps up five spots on last month to #4 vs. #12 over H1 2023. #1 a year ago, the Hyundai i30 (-43%) implodes to #5 and ranks #7 year-to-date vs. #1 over the Full Year 2022. The Kia Sportage (-2%) is also in difficulty at #6 ahead of a Skoda Karoq (+59.9%) in great shape. The Skoda Scala (+86.7%) also shines at #10.
