Alaska Airlines plans to add “streaming-fast” satellite Wi-Fi on its Embraer E175 regional jet aircraft, in partnership with Intelsat, the carrier announced Tuesday. The service will debut on Alaska’s Horizon Air in early 2024 and roll out across its regional fleet, including the carrier’s partner SkyWest, over a two-year period, according to the company. “Nearly all” of Alaska’s mainline fleet also is set to feature satellite Wi-Fi by this April, according to the carrier, with its entire fleet on track to provide it by 2026. The carrier said at this time its satellite Wi-Fi cost would remain $8 per flight.
