Skoda reveals its refreshed Scala and Kamiq

Skoda has revealed its facelifted Scala and Kamiq, ahead of an Australian launch in 2024.

The company has detailed a raft of predominantly cosmetic changes to the small hatch and crossover in Europe. Australian details are forthcoming.

Both models get new front and rear bumpers, a bolder grille design, and new alloy wheel designs.

The Scala gets slimmer, more rectangular headlights than before, while the Kamiq gets revised split-level tail lights.

Skoda claims the changes give the Scala a sportier look, and the Kamiq a more rugged one – you be the judge.

LED headlights are standard on both, but new Top LED Matrix headlights are available.

Various changes have been made inside the cabin, too, including a new climate control panel with new rotary mechanical controls, as well as new dash decors and door inserts.

There’s also new upholstery, with Monte Carlo models featuring a natty striped design.

A digital instrument cluster and an 8.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system are standard on both the Kamiq and Scala, with a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit and 9.2-inch touchscreen optional.

No mechanical changes have been announced, with Skoda saying the Scala and Kamiq will continue to be powered by “tried-and-tested fuel-efficient TSI units ranging from 70 to 110kW”.

Launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively, the Scala and Kamiq have been staples of the Czech brand’s lineup.

The Kamiq is much more popular in Australia than the Scala, however. Skoda sold 1633 examples here last year, compared with just 441 Scala hatchbacks.

The Scala and Kamiq aren’t the only Skodas getting a refresh, with the Octavia also due for one in 2024.
