The Toyota Hilux is the most popular model in Paraguay in 2022.
New light vehicle sales data for Paraguay is back on BSCB! This market soars 22.5% year-on-year in 2022 to 34,185 units. 47.3% of all light vehicles sold in Paraguay are imported from Brazil, 13.7% from Argentina, 9.2% from China, 7.3% from South Korea and 5.9% from India.
In the brands ranking, Toyota (+52.6%) climbs from #4 in 2021 to #1 this year with 15.7% share. It dislodges Chevrolet (+11.8%) at 14.7%, the American brand not able to catch up with the market growth. Kia (+4.5%) stays in third position above Volkswagen (+53.8%) up one spot to #4 and Hyundai (-10.5%) down three to #5. Citroen (+178.4%) and Peugeot (+57.5%) impress while Geely (+89.8%) is by far the best-selling Chinese brand, improving from #10 in 2021 to #8 this year.
Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (+30.6%) easily grabs the pole position with 6.9% share. In fact the entire Top 4 beats the market, with the Chevrolet Onix (+77.3%) up two spots to #2, the VW Gol (+68.2%) up two ranks also to #3 and the Chevrolet Tracker (+63.7%) up three to #4. Leader last year, the Hyundai HB20 (-51.4%) freefalls to #5 just as the Chevrolet S10 (-35.9%) also in difficulty, drops to #6. It’s a one spot gain for the Nissan kicks (+18.1%) which is followed by three Kias: the Sportage skyrockets from outside the Top 17 directly to #8, the Seltos (+15.7%) staying at #9 and the Sonet (+78.8%) up six spots to #10.
