I am wondering if you could you share with us the inspiration behind the song and what it represents to you?
“eyes don’t lie” was inspired by a situation in my own life that felt like an unspoken connection just through making eye contact. The sonics of the song represent something very personal to me, the dark, dance sound helped launch who I am as an artist and feels very true to me.
In ‘eyes don’t lie,’ the lyrics seem to carry a powerful message. Can you walk us through the creative process of writing the song and how you shaped its narrative?
The lyrics describe the feeling of thinking you know someone better than you do because of the way you both look at each other and the things revealed through eye contact. It talks about the fantasies that go through your head when you think about them.
Many fans have already connected deeply with ‘eyes don’t lie.’ Is there a particular line or verse in the song that holds special significance for you, and if so, what is the story behind it?
The line, “You’re beautiful don’t have to try, darlin’ you look divine,” is very special to me because it captures the beauty someone can have without even knowing it. It feels like falling in love with someone and when you look at them, every detail of their face is just perfect.
