Lamborghini electrical automobile idea to be unveiled subsequent week

Lamborghini will reveal a concept version of its forthcoming first electric vehicle (EV) at this year’s Monterey Car Week in California, which runs from August 18 to 20.

We already know this first electric Lamborghini model will launch in production form in 2028 and become a fourth model line for the Raging Bull alongside the Revuelto, Urus, and the upcoming Huracan successor.

It’ll have a 2+2 seating configuration, though it’s unclear if the production car will be a low-slung grand tourer or more of a high-riding crossover.

Previous rumours have pointed toward Lamborghini’s first EV looking similar to the four-door Estoque concept from 2008 and the two-door Asterion concept from 2014.

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann told CarExpert in July 2022 the electric 2+2 model will have a “new body style, new tech, [and] lots of opportunities to remake Lamborghini” and will be “very recognisable but it should also be something completely new”.

At this stage it’s unclear what platform will underpin this Lamborghini electric 2+2, but Mr Winkelmann previously told media, including InsideEVs, it won’t ride on a bespoke Lamborghini architecture. It will instead share components with other brands within the Volkswagen Group.

Once the Lamborghini electric 2+2 launches in 2028 it will have already been beaten to market by Ferrari. The Raging Bull’s arch-rival currently plans to introduce its first EV in 2025.

Lamborghini first detailed its electrification plans back in 2021 where the electric 2+2 was first teased under a black curtain.

Lamborghini will electrify its line-up over the next two years, allowing its to reduce its CO2 emissions by 50 per cent by 2025.

The company recently revealed the Revuelto, a V12 hybrid successor to the Aventador. It allow plans to introduce a hybrid successor to the Huracan, as well as a V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain to the Urus by the end of 2024.

Beyond this Mr Winkelmann has previously confirmed an electric Urus will launch in 2029.
