Electric taxi developer Archer Aviation recently secured $215 million in equity funding from several investors, including United Airlines, Archer announced Thursday. United’s precise investment wasn’t disclosed.
United began its partnership with Archer in February 2021, and in August 2022 paid a $10 million deposit to Archer for 100 electric aircraft. The companies since then have selected initial air taxi routes in New York and Chicago.
The new investment brings Archer’s total funding to date to more than $1.1 billion, according to the company. The amount of the United investment was not disclosed. The lead investor was Stellantis, with Boeing, Ark Invest and others contributing as well.
Archer also has received U.S. Federal Aviation Administration approval to begin flying its Midnight electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, according to the company.
