Finnair to Revamp Loyalty Program

Finnair has partnered with IAG Loyalty to adopt its Avios currency beginning in early 2024, the carrier announced Wednesday.

The Finnair Plus loyalty program will move to a new spend-based platform from a flight-based one, feature new milestone benefits, and allow members to collect and use loyalty currency across partner airlines, which include British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, Vueling and Qatar Airways.

Finnair Plus award points will be converted to Avios with a three-to-two ratio, and the purchasing power of the points will remain the same as Avios prices also will be updated with the same three-to-two ratio, according to Finnair.

Members will be able to move up tiers based on money spent on Finnair’s flights and “travel extras,” according to the carrier. Collecting points and currency on partner airlines will continue based on travel class, booking class and distance flown, however they will be based on miles flown, not kilometers.
