Mercedes-Benz Australia is recalling 145 examples of the E-Class and CLS due to an issue with one of their warning systems.
The recall affects certain E-Class and CLS models produced during 2022.
“Due to a software issue, the visual and acoustic warning system may not alert the driver if other vehicles and/or traffic are approaching when exiting the vehicle,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If the driver is not made aware of approaching vehicles and/or traffic, there is an increased risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
If you own an affected vehicle you should contact an authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer to have the work carried out as soon as possible, free of charge.
If you have further questions you can contact Mercedes-Benz Australia Customer Assistance Centre on 1300 300 896.
