Starting strong, the gorgeous The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real Golf & Spa Resort has a heck of a name with a lot to offer. All rooms have a private balcony to gaze upon the lush grounds, and all room bathrooms have a two-person spa bath to relax after a long day–perfect for a romantic vacation.

There are nearly a dozen pools on-site, four tennis courts, ten restaurants, 11 bars, and a spa. The Reserve also has a private beach area, a Kids Club, and adults-only areas when you need to get away from the children for a while. Also, as the name suggests, the full-service spa on-site has everything from mani-pedis to body scrubs and massages.

When you’re ready for an off-site adventure, you may want to book the multi-activity tour with Caribbean Tour Service. On this day-long adventure, you’ll go horseback riding, tour the city, see the countryside, go ziplining, and even ride in a jungle buggy!

Address: Carretera Arena Gorda Bávaro, Higuey, Punta Cana 23000, Dominican Republic

This adults-only resort resembles a grand Victorian mansion along the coast of Punta Cana. Just a few minutes from the Punta Blanca Golf Course and Cana Bay Golf Club, the Iberostar Grand Bávaro has quite a bit of bravado for a mid-sized, all-inclusive resort. You can even take dance lessons, fitness classes, or enjoy non-motorized water sports without even leaving the resort.

Not quite a boutique hotel or a mega-resort, the Bávaro has the best of both worlds as an adults-only resort. There are six restaurants to enjoy, a full-service spa, a shuttle to the nearby Punta Cana International Airport, an on-site golf course, pools, three cafes, and four lounges.

Named for nearby Bávaro Beach, many activities exist in this area of Punta Cana. When you’re ready to get out and about in Higüey, you have plenty of adventures. You could enjoy cavern snorkeling or take a guided safari tour in Higüey. But to get to know the local culture better, consider a culture-based walking tour to see areas like Basílica Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia and the Mercado Municipal.

Address: Boulevard Zona Hotelera, Punta Cana 23302, Dominican Republic

Not only is Sanctuary Cap Cana Resort a luxury experience, but every room is suite-style with either incredible ocean views or direct beach access. The adults-only resort at Cap Cana has six restaurants, a fitness center, four swimming pools, a spa, private beach access, and each room has a mini-bar refreshed every day.

Sanctuary Cap Cana is right off of Juanillo Beach, only six miles from the airport. Its on-site cuisine includes seafood at the Blue Marlin, Argentinian specialties at The Steakhouse, and Asian food at Wok.

Plus, you’ll get unparalleled views at sunset from the rooftop pools. With a drink in hand, the rooftops at Cap Cana are the place to be. That’s my idea of a happy hour.

If relaxing at the hotel puts you in the mood for some high-flying adventure, you don’t have to go far from Cap Cana. Nearby Bávaro Beach, you can go parasailing or even spend a day on the water with a boat cruise that takes you for a particular swim at a nearby cenote.

Hilton La Romana All-Inclusive Resort & Water Park Punta Cana / Booking.com

Address: Playa Bayahibe, Bayahíbe 23000, Dominican Republic

Located just off of Playa Bayahíbe, the Hilton La Romana Resort and Water Park is one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana for families because it has a massive water park. Although it is a tad smaller than some other all-inclusive areas, La Romana is no less exhilarating.

In addition to keeping the kids happy with water park fun, there is also a kids’ club on-site if you need some R&R of your own. There are also three swimming pools, six restaurants, pool tables, and live entertainment to keep your trip jamming well into the night. Every guest room has its private balcony, while some even have private plunge pools.

Being so close to Bayahíbe, there is much to do outside your luxurious all-inclusive resort. You could spend a day or an afternoon exploring the area on an e-bike tour, hang out on a party boat near Saona Island, or indulge in snorkeling. Snorkeling is by far my favorite activity to do when I’m near a crystal-clear body of water.

5. Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana

Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana / Booking.com

Address: Km 28, #74, Blvd. Turístico del Este, Punta Cana 23000, Dominican Republic

I know, I know, the Hard Rock Hotel? Really? Yes, really. While it’s an elevated chain you may be familiar with, its Punta Cana location is one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana–particularly for casino lovers. Although a family-friendly location, the Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana‘s casino will make you feel like you’re in a tropical version of Las Vegas without stepping on the strip.

Every room at the Hard Rock is a suite with spa bathtubs, a private patio or balcony, and fully stocked mini-fridges. The hotel also has a private beach area, game room, mini golf, a kids’ club, a spa, and so much more. Plus, there are babysitting services if you need more kids-free casino time.

When you’re ready to spend a whole day away from the confines of your home away from home, I highly suggest taking a day tour of Santo Domingo. This incredible place is the oldest colonial city in the Americas, founded in the 1400s. A few of the stops in this tour include a visit to the Museum of the Royal Houses and Alcázar de Colón, the first fortified European palace built in the Americas.

Address: Boulevard Fishing Lodge, Punta Cana 23000, Dominican Republic

Nestled beside Cap Cana Marina, the TRS Cap Cana Waterfront & Marina Hotel is an adults-only resort for those looking for an all-inclusive experience excluding the little ones. Steps away from Punta Cana Beach, every one of these guest rooms is a suite. You will find four restaurants, four lounges, a poolside bar, a fitness center, and three kid-free outdoor pools here.

Just a little too big at 115 rooms to be a proper boutique hotel, the TRS Cap Cana is still a cozy stay along the water. On the hotel’s private beach, you can play volleyball and swim, rent a free bicycle to explore the area, or hit the green with a round of golf.

One experience you shouldn’t miss out on is horseback riding on the beach. Riding a horse on the beach was never something high on my list of things to do, but now that I’ve done it, I can say it is an incredible way to embrace the beauty of the waves–without getting sandy toes!

Address: Playas De, Punta Cana 23301, Dominican Republic

Near the secluded Playa Escondida, Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana is among the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, particularly for wellness-centered travelers. Zoëtry resorts are known for their boutique relaxation, eco-friendly nature, and whole-body wellness initiatives.

Full disclosure: I stayed at a Zoëtry property before Hyatt acquired them. I can’t attest to any changes made since, but it was damned good times, and I have pretty good things to say about Hyatt in general–so make of that what you will.

There are four restaurants on-site at Zoëtry Agua, as well as 24-hour room service, incredible spa facilities, pools, and many outdoor areas to enjoy the scenery. This resort also hosts several activities every day of the week, including themed dinners, movie nights, live entertainment, and even cooking classes.

From Zoëtry Agua, you’re only a short ride from Macao Beach, one of the best surfing beaches in the Dominican Republic! So, while you’re here, why not take some surf lessons with Macao Surf Camp? If that’s not quite your speed and you’d rather stay on land, Macao Beach also has dozens of ATV and motorbike tour operators.

This adults-only resort has so much to do that you’ll have difficulty fitting it all into one trip. Not only does the Catalonia Royal Bávaro have lots to do on its property, but guests are also allowed to visit its sister hotel, the Catalonia Punta Cana‘s restaurants, facilities, and activities.

At the Catalonia Royal Bávaro, you can enjoy six restaurants, a juice bar, and even a beachside bar with sushi. The hotel has two golf courses and even offers water sports like kayaking and windsurfing from the comfort of the resort’s private beach.

If you want to take your adventures to the next level, the longest beach in DR is nearby, with plenty on offer. Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa – Adults Only / Booking.com

Address: Playa Uvero Alto, 23301, Dominican Republic

Another adults-only resort, the Breathless Punta Cana Resort and Spa, is one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana for travelers looking for a party. Breathless Punta Cana Resort has an on-site casino, and there is even a nightclub on the property for your whole crew to dance the night away.

Besides the nine restaurants and 24/7 room services, Breathless Punta Cana has eight lounges for your cocktail fix. You can catch a show at the hotel’s theater when you’re done soaking in the sun in one of the six pools or two hot tubs. Don’t even start on how the spa can relieve your aching dancing feet.

Not far from Breathless is another of the best beaches in Punta Cana–Uvero Alto. With more waves and action than at Bávaro Beach, you can enjoy some severe watersports over here. Try parasailing and flyboarding, or spend an afternoon adventuring around the area on a 4×4 and learning about Dominican culture.

Yet another of the adults-only all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, the Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana rooms all include either balconies or terraces. Some of the upgraded rooms even include private pools or swim-up rooms for easy room access to the pool.

This resort has seven restaurants, including Italian, Peruvian, and Japanese cuisine. In addition, there are three on-site bars, one poolside for refreshing beverages from the comfort of the water. There is also a nightclub and golfing at Live Aqua Beach Resort and a spa for reaching ultimate relaxation mode.

If you decide to take the party off-site, you can enjoy a boat party and snorkeling off Uvero Alto Beach. Or, for a more low-key day, perhaps a cruise along the water and a visit to a turtle nursery on Saona Island would be a better activity.

Not far from Dolphin Island Park, Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana is an all-suites, adults-only all-inclusive resort. All the rooms have balconies, with the upgraded ones having perks like swim-up pool access, whirlpool tubs, or incredible ocean views.

Six bars even out the property’s six lounges, offering guests various dining and beverage options. Don’t worry; those lounges don’t even include all the poolside or swim-up bar options at Secrets Royal Beach either–there are five of those.

You won’t need to leave the infinity pool for another piña colada. Besides imbibing, there are copious watersports to be enjoyed on-site, like kayaking or sailing, as well as a full spa, casino, and theater.

Once you get your fill of swimming, go to Bávaro Adventure Park. There, you can enjoy zipline courses to take flight.

Although one of the lines, the Mega Splash cable will put you back into the water at the end. So maybe save a little water fun for this zipline course.

At the Royalton CHIC Punta Cana, adults can enjoy the resort sans children. The ultra-luxurious The Mansion has six separate bedrooms, a terrace, a patio, and even a private pool.

Grand Bávaro Princess Punta Cana / Booking.com

Address: Gran Bávaro Princess, Punta Cana 23000, Dominican Republic

Located near the white sand beach of Bávaro Beach, this Punta Cana resort features luxury amenities at moderate prices. At Grand Bávaro Princess Punta Cana, all guest rooms are suites, and the nightly entertainment at the Movie Disco is free admission with a pair of drinks for each (of age) guest. While these rooms don’t have ocean views, you are never far from the water.

This is the only Punta Cana resort we’ve mentioned so far that offers activities like archery on top of the more traditional resort offers like windsurfing and snorkeling. You’ll get your fill at the ten restaurants of the Grand Bávaro Princess on top of the on-site pizza joint, cafe, multiple bars, and snack stand. Believe me, you’ll want to stay well-fed to enjoy the spa and fitness center fully.

Over at Bávaro Adventure Park, your family vacation will be complete once you try their Polaris Adventure and Horseback Riding combo day tour. This day-long adventure will take you through the area’s jungles and see more rural areas around Punta Cana that you couldn’t otherwise see on other tours.
