As a straight-edge girlie who doesn’t drink and goes to bed at 10 p.m. every night, I couldn’t be less interested in raves. But while regular parties aren’t my jam, parties in my pants are (I am a professional sex toy reviewer, after all). So when sex toy brand We-Vibe offered to give me a sneak peak of its new internal vibrator — the We-Vibe Rave 2 ($139) — I eagerly agreed to give it a whirl.
After taking this internal vibrator for a spin (or five) I think any vulva-owner who enjoys internal, vaginal stimulation should, too. Ahead, read my full review on the We-Vibe Rave 2, plus insight on why I think pleasure-seekers of all genders and preferences should give it a try.

To the naked eye, the We-Vibe Rave 2 may look like a boomerang-shaped dog toy. But the toy is far more dynamic. “The Rave 2.0 is a multi-pleasure sex toy,” says Shamyra Howard, LCSW, sex and relationship expert for sex toy retailer Lovehoney. “Not only is it a G-spot vibrator, but it’s also fully insertable for those who want deeper stimulation,” she says. Indeed, there are two hot-spots deep in the vaginal canal — known respectively as the A-spot (anterior fornix zone) and C-spot (cervix) — that some people (think: doggy style lovers) enjoy having stimulated.
The toy has two motors, one at each end, to simultaneously target different erogenous zones depending on how you use it. “Its intense, quiet vibrations and patterns can also be used for direct clitoral stimulation,” says Howard. Fact is, the toy may be primarily marketed as an internal toy, but there is nothing keeping you (or me!) from using it externally. And yes, you read that right: Quiet. No matter which of the 10 different vibration intensities or patterns you switch the toy to, it will remain whisper quiet.
Other key features to know: The rechargeable battery ensures 120 minutes of play time, the settings can be controlled directly on the toy or via a smartphone app, and the toy is completely waterproof and safe to submerge. (Perfect if you enjoy your solo time in the bath or shower!)
How the We-Vibe Rave 2 compares to the original
As the toy’s name suggests, The We-Vibe Rave 2 is the second generation of the brand’s Rave ($119). And while the Gilmore Girls revival taught us that most sequels can’t hold a candle to their originators, that is not the case for the Rave 2. The toy’s developers implemented tweaks and re-works to the original Rave that ultimately make it better-suited to providing pleasure to its users.
Most notable of these changes is its new-found adjustability. At the apex of the two ends is a hinge that allows you to edit the angle between the internal arm and external arm. “This adjustability increases the likelihood that the toy stimulates your personal pleasure zones,” says Howard. After all, nobody has the same exact anatomy. This feature increases the likelihood that the toy will hit your G-zone and target it with the intensity and pressure you enjoy, says Howard.
The adjustability of the Rave 2.0 also means that the toy can be enjoyable for individuals who do not necessarily enjoy G-spot stimulation (some people don’t!), according to Howard. “Many people report not being able to feel when their G-spot is being stimulated,” she says. While the customizability of the toy increases the likelihood that you’ll be able to stimulate that hot-spot, it also means that you can adjust it to where your personal spots are. For instance, some people don’t enjoy G-spot stimulation, but enjoy receiving pressure to the opening of their vaginal canal, which the Rave 2.0 can be angled to provide.
Unlike the original, the Rave 2 has two motors, meaning it can simultaneously stimulate two different areas. (The original has just one motor for G-spot stimulation.) However, note that this feature likely contributes to Rave 2’s lower battery life—120 minutes as opposed to two hours with the original Rave.
My experience trying out the Rave 2
Bluntly, I was not expecting to orgasm with the We-Vibe Rave 2. It’s not that I didn’t believe that this was a high quality product — between the We-Vibe Nova and We-Vibe Wand, I know from experience that this brand knows how to make good toys. Thing is, I rarely go internally during solo sessions; I usually prefer clitoral stimulation only. While I can reach the end zone with internal stimulation during partnered and group settings, usually that explosion is only reached with a hearty amount of eye contact and praise from my partner(s).
The first time I used We-Vibe 2, I spent a little time getting to know the toy, and learning what each of the buttons do. (For the record: I recommend this for anyone trying a new toy. Many sex toys are less intuitive than you might think!). Next, I layered the silicone shaft with my go-to water-based lube (CocoNu Water Based, $25), pulled up some spicy content from my long-distance crush, and got vibing.
Immediately, I was struck by how useful the toy’s twisted ridges are. While subtle to the eye, these ridges allowed me to apply precise stimulation to the parts of my vulva that enjoy more pin-pointed stimulation. All I had to do to enjoy more broad stimulation was change the angle of the toy in my hand.
The ability of the toy to deliver both pin-pointed and broad stimulation makes it optimal for pleasure-seekers like me who enjoy a does-it-all toy.
The second time I used the toy, I experimented using it exactly how it is designed: for internal vaginal stimulation. While the We-Vibe Rave 2 is slimmer than many other internal vibrators on the market, it’s still about two to three fingers thick. So, it took a lot of teasing and pleasing before my canal could be coaxed into accepting its girth. Once inside me, however, I was surprised how freakin’ good it felt!
Ultimately though, I was too distracted by how full I felt to fully let go. So, I pulled it out and used the head of the toy on my go-to external pleasure spot and viola, orgasm!
Since then, I’ve used We-Vibe Rave 2 a handful of times and had the same amount of orgasms (though of course, pleasure can’t be qualified by orgasms alone). And I have plans to test it and its app capabilities with my love sometimes soon.
Is this G-spot vibrator worth it?
Short answer: Yes. The We-Vibe may be marketed as a G-spot toy, but my experience says that it’s a great choice for people curious about all kinds of internal and external pleasure. (The one exception: internal anal stimulation, since this toy does not have a flared base). Thanks to its modifiable shape, asymmetrical ridging, and wide-range of vibrations, this toy can be customized to your particular body and preferences.
The ability of the toy to deliver both pin-pointed and broad stimulation makes it optimal for pleasure-seekers like me who enjoy a does-it-all toy, as well as people who don’t know what they like, and couples who have different pleasure preferences between them.
Best, the toy rings up at just $139, which is a steal for a toy made by a luxury sex toy company like We-Vibe. (Most luxury sex toys are $200+). Oh, and the We-Vibe app that allows someone you love (or are lusty for) to control the toy from miles away is totally free.
All and all, it’s my professional opinion that the Rave 2 is a solid investment for people with all sorts of experience with sex toys (including first-timers). The fact that this toy can be used for shallow vaginal stimulation, deep vaginal stimulation, and external stimulation makes it a great option for people with a wide range of sexual tastes, as well as those who are figuring things out.
