Audi up 78.6%, Tesla down -59.4%, market off -4.3% – Finest Promoting Automobiles Weblog

The Q4 helps Audi up 78.6% year-on-year in September.

New car sales in Austria recede -4.3% year-on-year in September to 19,840, yet the year-to-date volume remains in positive at +12.1% and 182,886 units. Brand leader Volkswagen (-21.9%) is knocked hard to 11.9% share vs. 14.3% so far this year. It is followed by a strong Skoda (+6%) and an excellent Audi (+78.6%). BMW (-11.3%), Hyundai (-9.3%) and Mercedes (-11.2%) all fall pretty hard whereas Kia (+14%), Dacia (+27.2%), Cupra (+18.4%) and Renault (+17.3%) defy the negative market with double-digit gains. This is Cupra’s third Top 10 finish in the past 5 months. For once Tesla (-59.4%) freefalls to #15 and 3% share.

Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (-40%) keeps the lead despite freefalling while the Tesla Model Y (-61.9%) is in an even worse position but still manages a 2nd place for the month. The VW Golf (+41.8%) is very strong at #3 while the Skoda Enyaq (+121.5%) hits its 2nd highest ranking at #4, below only the #3 it reached in September 2021. The Hyundai Tucson (+8.3%) reappears in the Top 20, directly landing at #5 ahead of the Dacia Sandero (-0.8%) and Toyota Yaris/Cross (-1.7%). The next 7 models all vastly outpace the market with at least double-digit lifts: the Audi Q4 (+700%), BMW X1 (+429.4%) and Opel Corsa (+257.9%) being the most dynamic. Cupra places the Born at #8 and the Ateca at #20.
