Max says his Midget was purchased off Facebook Marketplace for next to nothing when he was 12 years old. It wasn’t running; in fact, nothing on the car worked at all. Now Max knows the car inside and out, and it’s fully street legal. The car has competed in a Lemons rally, bringing home an award.
“I learned how to drive stick in this thing, and it is a great little car . . . This car also helped bring me closer to my grandfather, who knows his stuff on these cars as he has owned a few.”
The MG Car Company is a British car company that mainly produced rebodied Morris models before it incorporated into its own identity on July 21, 1930. The MG Midget first arrived in 1961 as essentially a rebadged Austin-Healey Sprite. Over the years, evolutions in powertrain, exterior design, and structural rigidity would sprinkle into the Midget’s package. The last of 73,899 Midgets was made on December 7, 1979.
