A number of Mitsubishi fashions recalled | CarExpert

Mitsubishi has issued a sweeping recall for improperly labeled keys.

It affects 7468 vehicles produced between 2020 and 2022 across all of its model lines.

“Some remote keys supplied to consumers do not contain sufficient button battery warnings and do not comply with the mandatory labelling requirements for items containing button batteries,” the company says in its recall notice.

“Therefore, consumers may be unaware that the key uses a button battery and the risks posed to young children.

“In the absence of the necessary warnings, if young children gain access to button batteries and ingest them, they are likely to suffer severe internal burn injuries, which can result in serious injury or death.

“Button batteries also pose a choking hazard to young children.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact a Mitsubishi dealership to check if the required warnings are present.

If they’re not, the missing warnings will be fitted at no cost.

You’ll need to bring both your keys, as well as your owner’s manual. Mitsubishi also asks you bring either your service and warranty book or the recall letter received in the post.

If you have any further questions, you can contact Mitsubishi on 1300 131 211.
