This week, Aeroplan announced a new partnership with Manulife, one of Canada’s largest insurance providers.
Later this year, Canadians with Manulife Group Benefits will be able to earn Aeroplan points by engaging in health and wellness activities, such as exercising and practising mindfulness.
Aeroplan Adds Partnership with Manulife
Aeroplan and Manulife have teamed up to offer Canadians with Manulife Group Benefits the opportunity to earn Aeroplan points by engaging in health and wellness activities.
In Spring 2024, Manulife will launch a new benefits platform for its members, which will integrate health, wellness, and benefits provisions in one place.
Later on in Summer 2024, it plans to integrate its partnership with Aeroplan, which will offer members the ability to earn Aeroplan points by engaging in health and wellness challenges.
Some examples of initiatives that could offer the ability to earn Aeroplan points include exercise minutes, mindfulness practices, and more.
Furthermore, members will be able to earn Aeroplan points for completing educational courses, as well as completing activities related to their benefits, such as downloading a digital benefits card.
Once the partnership is fully launched, members will be able to link their Aeroplan account with their Manulife Group Benefits digital account, which is likely similar to how you can link your Aeroplan account with Starbucks and Uber, amongst others.
It’s expected that details about the activities eligible for points accumulation, as well as the number of points that can be earned, will be provided over the next few months.
Aeroplan’s Latest Partnership for Everyday Earning
Over the past few years, Aeroplan has launched a number of partnerships, which allow members to earn points with many everyday purchases and activities.
Aside from the many retail partners on the Aeroplan eStore, you can earn Aeroplan points with Starbucks, Uber, the LCBO, and Journie Rewards, amongst others.
The latest partnership with Manulife is certainly unique, and it will be interesting to learn more about the various activities that are eligible for earning.
It’s not likely that the earning rates with the partnership will be lucrative enough to earn points to fly to Europe in business class; however, if you’re able to accumulate Aeroplan points by exercising and engaging in activities that otherwise contribute to your wellness, there’s certainly no harm in doing so.
Plus, the points should contribute to your Everyday Status Qualification tally each year, through which you can earn Aeroplan Elite Status without flying.
Conclusion
Aeroplan has launched a new partnership with Manulife, through which eligible members will be able to earn Aeroplan points by participating in health and wellness activities.
It’s expected that the partnership will launch in full in Summer 2024, and more details about the earning rates and eligible activities are expected in the coming months.
If you have Manulife Group Benefits, be sure to link your accounts when the partnership goes live, and then start earning points on wellness activities later this year.
