Aggressive Hyundai Ioniq 5 idea could possibly be actuality in Australia

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be the next model from the Korean brand to get a range of N Performance Parts.

Hyundai has revealed a concept version of the Ioniq 5 N at the Tokyo Auto Salon, called the NPX1, equipped with various enhancements it plans to offer this year.

The company’s Australian arm plans to make N Performance Parts available for the Ioniq 5 N locally, though it hasn’t confirmed any details yet.

The NPX1 concept features a carbon front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and rear spoiler.

Lowering springs see it hug the ground, while it sits on lightweight hybrid carbon wheels behind which sit high-performance brake pads.

Inside, there’s Alcantara upholstery and a pair of racing bucket seats.

Hyundai also specifically called out its plans to offer specialised tuning components for electric models, of which it has just one for now: the Ioniq 5 N, which debuted last year and arrives in Australia this year.

“In 2024, Hyundai Motor Company will take a step forward as a leader in new tuning parts suitable for the high-performance EV era as demonstrated with the ‘NPX1’ concept model,” said Joon Park, vice president of the N Brand Management Group.

“Not limited to tuning parts, we are also developing software customisation such as sound and vehicle calibration by OTA updates which will open a completely new category of EV customisation for an exciting future ahead for the tuning community.”

Hyundai started offering N Performance Parts in 2019.

In Australia, available enhancements for the i20 N and i30 N include a lowered spring kit and performance brake pads.

The range is even more extensive in Korea, where you can customise a Veloster N with a carbon rear spoiler, front lip, and rear diffuser, as well as an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and handbrake.

Performance enhancements include a monoblock brake system, air intake kit, and a strut bar made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic.
