LifeStraw is a company that is selling “insurance” when it comes to the outdoors. When you are in remote or inhospitable environments, they deliver you a mechanism to get clean water. Whether it is for a day hike, a spike camp while hunting, or where you flatly live everyday of life might not have clean drinking water. Understanding that, LifeStraw has a program where every purchase you make, a child in need receives safe drinking water for a year. That’s awesome! The thought of clean drinking water has really hit home for many Americans since we have been battered by hurricanes in the South in the past month. Something as simple as a LifeStraw could be a Godsend. So, today we are going to take a look at the recently announced LifeStraw Peak Solo Water Filter to see how it performs. Let’s dive in!

Field Use – LifeStraw Peak Solo Water Filter
So, how did the LifeStraw Peak Solo Water Filter perform out in the field?… I have had this LifeStraw for over 1 year now and it has been on a hoard of adventures with me. From hunting to ranch work, and a camping trip. I didn’t need to bust it out many times because we live in such a connected society where even while camping we are so close to civilization, but I did learn a thing or two while using it.
For one, LifeStraw states that the Peak Solo Water Filter can connect to standard water bottles. I found that can be a little hit-or-miss. Yes, it connected to everything I tried, but some “gas station” water bottles connected more securely than others. So, when you invert the Peak Solo Water Filter some dirty water might leak while you’re attempting to drink clean water. Learning that quite quickly, I wouldn’t drink water with it flipped upside-down. Instead, I would attempt to drink water with the Peak Solo Water Filter sideways and squeeze water through the filter instead of allowing gravity to do its job.
The Peak Solo Water Filter also comes with a backwash syringe which I would recommend getting familiar with because it is important to clean the Peak Solo Water Filter when possible to ensure its cleanliness and overall longevity. That will connect to the drinking end of the Peak Solo Water Filter and you can push and will water through the filter forcibly as needed.
Finally, I supremely appreciate that you get a basic carabiner clip with this LifeStraw. Could you pick one up at a hardware store for a couple dollars? Of course, but the fact that LifeStraw includes one simply shows that they are thinking ahead as to how their customers are going to deploy this product. So, to simply attach it to your pants or a backpack is a breeze.
Final Thoughts – LifeStraw Peak Solo Water Filter
So, what are my final thoughts on the LifeStraw Peak Solo Water Filter?… Overall, I believe this is an absolute “must-buy” for anyone who spends extended periods of time in the outdoors. Hydration is the key to life, and you never want to be without water – or, at worst – the ability to produce clean water (which is exactly what this product allows you to do). Also, bear in mind this isn’t meant for bulk water purification. LifeStraw has other products for that. This is a simple, affordable tool to get a water bottle’s worth of clean water to continue going about your day.
In closing, I want to say thank you to LifeStraw for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their LifeStraw Peak Solo Water Filter. That is greatly appreciated.
