Amadeus Maintains ‘Regular’ Reserving Momentum in Q3

Bookings via Amadeus’ global distribution system increased 4.4 percent year over year to 117.5 million in the third quarter, continuing the trend of “steady booking growth” for the year, the company reported.

The growth, similar to the 4 percent increase in global bookings reported by Sabre last week, helped push Amadeus’ air distribution revenue up 8.6 percent year over year to €724.4 million for the quarter. For the first nine months of the year, bookings have increased 3.4 percent year over year.

Amadeus reported that it signed 13 new contracts or distribution agreement renewals with airlines during the quarter, part of 45 signed throughout the year so far. It also reported its New Distribution Capability strategy is “progressing well,” including recent agreements with Delta Air Lines, Virgin Australia and IndiGo. As of the third quarter, 29 airlines are making NDC content available through the Amadeus Travel Platform, and the company aims to be “the undisputed aggregator of NDC volumes for airlines and travel agencies,” president and CEO Luis Maroto said in a statement.

Revenue increased by double-digit percentages year over year in Amadeus’ other segments during the quarter. Air IT solutions revenue increased 13.7 percent year over year to €575.2 million, and hospitality and other solutions revenue increased 12.2 percent to €248.3 million. Total revenue in the third quarter increased 11 percent year over year to €1.5 billion.

Amadeus reported a profit of €342 million for the quarter, up from €301.2 million in the third quarter of 2023.
