On this week’s Amazon Live show, I shared tips to stay healthy during cold and flu season. First and foremost, I talked about what you should (and shouldn’t) be sipping to stay hydrated (hint, water and broth are your best bets). Being adequately hydrated helps you better manage symptoms and can help boost immunity. Next, I discussed the top foods to help strengthen and protect your immune system—hello, vitamin-C-rich citrus fruit, bell peppers, broccoli, strawberries and Brussels sprouts. I also touted mushrooms, which contain two beneficial anti-viral compounds. Bright orange carrots and sweet potato were also on the menu for their impressive beta-carotene content. And yes, mom was right about chicken soup—so I’m urging you to try my daily elixir the next time you’re feeling under the weather. Finally, to end the show, I shared what we were having for dinner (I got a bit sidetracked LOL)—vegan taco meat that combines a trio of plant powerhouses: beans, lentils and walnuts.
