American Airlines has started to add new benefits to AAdvantage Business, the corporate loyalty program geared toward small and midsize companies it launched in October 2023, the carrier announced Thursday.
As of today, travel managers now can set corporate travel policies in the program’s travel management portal, and those guidelines will be visible when member employees book business travel on the American website or app, according to an email American sent to AAdvantage Business customers, which it shared with BTN.
In addition, trip credits now automatically are issued back to each company, not to the traveler, for any voluntary changes to AAdvantage Business trips. American claims to be the only airline to return trip credits directly to the company.
Further, starting Oct. 28, companies will earn miles for all travelers flying for their business, even if they have not yet registered within the travel management portal. Members who want to earn miles and loyalty points toward status still need to be registered in the program.
American also is awarding AAdvantage Business accounts a one-time mile deposit for eligible travel activity since January 2024 for accounts that did not accrue miles due to the registered traveler requirement or agency bookings. Those deposits will be available by the end of the month, according to the carrier.
In July, American began to allow point accrual for bookings in all channels, not just for those via the airline’s website or app.
