American Airlines members now can earn AAdvantage miles when flying on flights operated in South America by low-cost carrier JetSmart, through an expanded partnership, American announced Tuesday.
JetSmart customers can join the AAdvantage program when purchasing tickets on the JetSmart website, according to American. Later this year, AAdvantage members also will be able to redeem miles for JetSmart-operated flights.
The carriers first partnered in 2023 with a codeshare on itineraries between the United States and Chile, and recently expanded that to flights in Peru and Argentina, according to American.
JetSmart was founded in 2016 and operates more than 85 routes throughout South America. Its fleet includes Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
