American Airlines in summer 2025 will resume or launch five routes between the United States and Europe, the carrier announced Thursday.
Beginning May 23, 2025, American will resume seasonal service between Philadelphia and Edinburgh, Scotland, for the first time since 2019. Flights will be daily and will operate through October 2025 with Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Also on May 23, the carrier will launch daily flights between Philadelphia and Milan, Italy, also using Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
The three additional new routes include daily service beginning March 30 between Chicago and Madrid, Spain, using Boeing 787-8 aircraft; daily service starting June 5 between Charlotte, N.C., and Athens, Greece, using Boeing 777-200 aircraft; and daily service beginning July 5 between Miami and Rome, Italy, operating with Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
Tickets for the new routes will be available as of Sept. 9.
