The perks of credit cards, such as The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, are the benefits that come along with the card. Despite a hefty annual fee of $695 (see rates and fees), the card’s statement credits often exceed the annual fee.

The Amex Business Platinum offers a wide range of statement credits to help business owners offset costs. Unfortunately, there has been a negative development on this front, as first reported by Deals Points. Amex could bring major changes to several statement credits offered on the card, seriously affecting the card’s value for existing cardmembers.

THE POINTS GUY

American Express has added an end date of Dec. 31 to the following three credits in the card’s terms and conditions:

  • Up to $400 Dell statement credit (up to $200 biannually)
  • Up to $360 Indeed credit (up to $90 per quarter)
  • Up to $150 Adobe credit
  • Enrollment Required

Here’s the wording for the Dell credit:

Only the Basic Card Member or Authorized Account Manager(s) on a Business Platinum Card® Account can enroll the Card Account in the benefit. Eligible purchases must be charged to the enrolled Card Account for the benefit to apply. Purchases by both the enrolled Basic Card Member and Employee Card Members on the enrolled Card Account are eligible for statement credits through 12/31/24.

We are committed to making sure there is significant, well-rounded value on our Business Platinum Card. You are seeing this expiration date because we are uncertain if these statement credit benefits with these merchant partners will be available after this date as we continually evaluate our offerings. If or when any of these benefits change, we will notify Card Members in advance.

As of now, it’s uncertain if the affected statement credits will be provided after Dec. 31. However, one thing is certain: You should use these statement credits to their fullest value before the end of 2024.

The easiest credit to utilize would be the Dell credit, which could be used toward the purchase of a new computer or other hardware — the $400 in value is over half of the card’s annual fee. The Indeed and Adobe statement credits may be difficult to use for some cardmembers; however, we encourage you to use them to ensure you receive maximum value from the card’s benefits before they may change.
