Amtrak has named Jennifer Mitchell as EVP of strategy and planning, effective Dec. 2, the rail operator announced Tuesday. She will succeed Dennis Newman, who is retiring.
Mitchell will be responsible for setting the long-term strategic vision for Amtrak and managing the planning, infrastructure access, state partner, network development and host railroad functions. She most recently served as deputy administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration. Prior to that role, Mitchell was director of the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, according to Amtrak.
