Amtrak summer time sale: First and enterprise class on Acela Northeast routes


Amtrak is offering Northeast travelers a chance to book discounted business-class and first-class Acela tickets for travel for the rest of the summer, with one-way business-class fares starting at $29.

Trains must be booked by June 28 for travel starting June 30 through Sept. 30.

Sample routes

The following one-way routes were priced as listed at the time of publication. We cannot guarantee the below will be available when you book:

  • Philadelphia to Baltimore, starting at $29 for business class and $124 for first class.
  • New York to Philadelphia, starting at $34 for business class and $134 for first class.
  • Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia, starting at $39 for business class and $154 for first class.
  • Providence to New York, starting at $39 for business class and $164 for first class.
  • Boston to New York, starting at $49 for business class and $174 for first class.
  • New York to Washington and Baltimore to New York, starting at $49 for business class and $199 for first class.

To search for these discounted routes, filter your search to include Acela trains only, and note that the discount will automatically apply when searching included routes. Though the sale is advertised as being for one-way fares, you might be able to stack two one-way fares at the sale price for a round-trip journey.

For example, you can book an Acela from New York to Philidelphia for July 10-12 at the advertised round-trip price of $68.

Discounted fares will be Amtrak’s Saver fares, which are nonrefundable but can be changed for a fee.

Maximize your purchase

Don’t forget to use a credit card that earns bonus points on travel purchases, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve (3 points per dollar on travel) or the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card (2 points per dollar on travel).

Bottom line

If you are looking to book a last-minute trip along the East Coast this summer, consider taking Amtrak, especially if flights are too expensive.
