Amtrak later this fall will introduce a “simplified fare structure” that will reduce the fare types to two categories from three, the rail provider announced Wednesday.
The new fare categories are “Flex” and “Value.” Flex tickets will be fully refundable if canceled and can be changed without fees before departure, although the fare price may differ. Value tickets will be priced lower than Flex fares. They also will be non-changeable and will receive a 75 percent refund if canceled.
Tickets purchased prior to the launch of the new fare structure will remain subject to the existing fare rules and conditions, according to Amtrak.
