Field Use: WarBird Sleeper Cell Shooting Glasses – Matte Black Frame, Smoke HC Lens
One of the first things I did with the WarBird Sleeper Cell protective shooting glasses was take them along on hikes or walks on my lunch break. I’m fortunate enough to work next to a scenic river and a small park so that is where I spend my afternoon lunch breaks in between selling firearms to Minnesotans at The Guns And Gear Store of Waite Park, MN. While these glasses are not advertised as being polarized, they do cut down a good amount of glare when around water. I was able to spot a largemouth bass making a spawning bed underneath my dock that I hadn’t noticed in previous days because the reflection of the water was cut down enough where I could spy that sneaky bass.
Additionally, I utilized the WarBird Sleeper Cell for a family range session with my lovely wife, Andrea, as well as my father-in-law. We were testing out the Walther WMP .22 Magnum (Walther Magnum Pistol) and Hammerli Arms Forge H1 1911 .22 Long Rifle pistol and the glasses performed well for all three of us. These glasses gave complete coverage of our eyes and face with varying face sizes between my wife, father-in-law, and I. Also, we were shooting steel targets at fairly close distances (3 – 20 yards), and we had occasionally spalling or metal flakes come back at us – which is common while engaging steel – and it was never an issue for our eyes.
In terms of comfort, I found the rubber contact areas on the bridge of the glasses that touches your nose, and the arms which touch the top of your ears to be comfortable for extended periods of time. The soft rubber was not only gentle to the soft areas of your face and head, but it also had good tactile grip (the glasses were not sliding around; they remained in place where you put them).
These glasses framed my head really well throughout all the time that I used them, too. They are simple in their presentation and aesthetic, and I would be willing to wear these around town, at a park, or driving because they don’t scream “tactical operator” and give away my Grey Man status as a gun owner. They are protective, attractive, and are not “loud” – you blend in while in public.
Final Thoughts: WarBird Sleeper Cell Shooting Glasses – Matte Black Frame, Smoke HC Lens
So, what are my final thoughts on the WarBird Sleeper Cell Shooting Glasses in a Matte Black Frame with a Smoke HC (High Contrast) lens?… Overall, they are lightweight, comfortable, attractive, perform better than advertised, and they are moderately-priced within the market at an MSRP of $139.99. Ever since we have been introduced to WarBird, I have been excited to see what they are bringing to the market and this is no exception. The WarBird Sleeper Cell is a great offering for a growing company.
In closing, I want to say thank you to WarBird for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their new WarBird Sleeper Cell Shooting Glasses in a Matte Black Frame with a Smoke HC (High Contrast) lens. That is greatly appreciated. Also, we would like to know what all of you guys and gals think? Do you believe that the WarBird Sleeper Cell Shooting Glasses are something worth spending your money on?
