Whitetail deer are considered one of the most intelligent and difficult to harvest game animals in North America. They have tremendous eyesight, an amazing sense of smell, and phenomenal ears. It places us in a disadvantageous position when we are hunting them out in the field. Moreover, deer have an abundance of natural food sources – as well as man-made ones like farm crops – that make them elusive much of the year. To draw them out of hiding, we need something pretty compelling. That can be bait piles if it is legal in your state, jurisdiction, and/or locale as well as mineral attractants. Mineral attractants are nice because they are not simply feeding whitetail deer and drawing them in, but they also are providing them with beneficial nutrition for them to grow larger and healthier – both in body mass as well as their antlers. Today, we are going to take a look at a few products from Big & J Long Range Attractants in their Bone Collector Block and The Cube to see how well they do in attracting wild game. Let’s dive in!

Big & J Long Range Attractants
Big & J Long Range Attractants has been making what they’ve coined as “long range attractants” for many years. Mineral blends, blocks, food plot crops, and related items that have a simple mission to get more deer near you, grow them, improve their health, and deliver a great source of protein.
See More Deer… Grow Bigger Bucks… Improve Overall Herd Health… High Quality Protein
Big & J Long Range Attractants – “The Cube”
The first Big & J Long Range Attractant we are going to take a look at is “The Cube” that has an MSRP of $24.99 for a 25 Lb block. This aptly named long-range attractant is a good source of protein, fat, and valuable minerals that whitetail deer need. It has a proprietary Big & J “Get Noticed” aroma that can waft and carry through the woods to draw in deer from further away than competing mineral blends.
- A longer-lasting form of BB2 with BIG&J’s intense, “Get Noticed” aroma
- Ideal for the hard-to-reach spots, for hunting big bucks and for non-resident hunters
- Contains the nutrients deer crave and the protein deer need; more protein and less salt than any other consumption block
- Available in 25 Lb attractant blocks
The Cube, essentially a compressed form of BB2, offers more protein and less salt than any other consumption block. It’s designed to last longer in the field.
Big & J Long Range Attractants – Bone Collector Block
The second Big & J Long Range Attractants product we have gotten to test out is the Bone Collector Block at an MSRP $20.99 for a 20 Lb block. This is a special product made in collaboration with Michael Waddell from “Bone Collector.” Michael Waddell, being the seasoned hunter that he is, provided his input in what he believes would be a beneficial mineral block for drawing in more game.
- Ideal for the hard-to-reach spots, for hunting big bucks and for non-resident hunters
- Contains the nutrients deer crave and the protein deer need; more protein and less salt than any other consumption block
- Available in 20 Lb attractant blocks
Bone Collector Blend is an amazing attraction with three irresistible grains with the special aromas Big&J® is known for. In this era of food plots and property management, deer will choose to go to the setup that’s best. Bone Collector Blend is your secret weapon. Its powerful aroma, the result of a proprietary refining process, draws deer from farther away. But Bone Collector Blend is not just an attractant. In fact, it has a TDN (total digestible nutrition) level that is higher than virtually all premium feeds, and a high level of protein. This brings the big bucks out and keeps deer coming back all season long. With a proprietary secret attractant, protein content, fat content, and molasses to bring deer to you and keep them on your property. Supercharge your feed site with the attractant power of Bone Collector Blend. Pour it on the ground or blend in with other feeds to give the area the attracting aroma and taste that Big&J® is known for.
What’s the Upsell? What’s the Elevator Pitch?
So, what is the upsell to the Big & J Long Range Attractants Bone Collector Block and The Cube attractant? What is the 30-second elevator pitch to sell hunters and huntresses on these products versus their competitors? Big & J highlights 3 elements that separates themselves from the pack:
- Hard-to-Reach Spots: If your stand is too remote to replenish with BB2 regularly, the Cube is the perfect answer. Like BB2, it will attract deer from far and wide while providing the nutrients and protein that deer desire.
- Hunting Mature Bucks: Minimizing activity is crucial when hunting mature whitetail bucks. Because the Cube lasts longer, it will help you limit the amount of movement in the area, yet makes sure the buck has a reason to keep coming back.
- Long-Distance Hunting: Some of us don’t live where we hunt, so we can’t check our BB2 sites like those who do. The Cube is perfect for this situation since it ensures your deer always have a reason to return.
Performance in the Field – Big & J Long Range Attractants
So, how did these attractants work in the field?… It took about 72 hours before any animals noticed them which feels like an eternity when you are waiting for trail camera photos to pour in on your phone. In the end though, I will let the photos do all of the talking.
A very grateful trash panda was the first animal to find my mineral blocks.
This was a buck that I had not seen before on my property until I began to see new trail camera photos.
Like a Disney fairytale, this pair of woodland creatures greet each other.
The first raccoon apparently shared the good news and they threw a party in the night.
This beautiful buck is one I hope to see during daylight hours soon hunting.
Seeing trophy whitetail bucks like this during daylight hours makes me very happy.
It is also good to see a thriving deer population of does and fawns as well.
One of the coolest photos I received was these 3 bucks all meeting for one photo.
This buck has put the feed bag on and looks like an absolute tank!
I believe (and hope) this is a different buck that was pulled from hiding that I have never seen before.
Departing Thoughts – Big & J Long Range Attractants
So, what are my final thoughts on the Big & J Long Range Attractants Bone Collector Block and The Cube attractant?… Overall, I am impressed. It took a few days for them to kick into action, but once they did, I have had a never-ending reel of photos. Does, fawns, bucks, raccoons, and even barn kittens curious of the smell they found showed up at the attractants. In sum, these definitely work as advertised. For anyone looking to get some minerals to draw in more wild game, its worth checking out what Big & J has to offer.
