Assessment of Zoetry Mallorca, bookable with Hyatt factors

All-inclusive resorts can be a polarizing vacation experience. Some travelers love the convenience of not having to leave the property, lift a finger, or make any decisions more taxing than which cocktail to order next. Others may struggle to relax around swimming pools with nonstop DJs, rowdy swim-up bars, impromptu conga lines and repetitive buffet meals.

While Spain is awash with budget all-inclusive resorts (including numerous Alua properties which have recently joined World of Hyatt), Zoetry instead focuses on offering luxurious accommodations in memorable settings, still with all-inclusive convenience.

As a frequent visitor to the Balearic island of Mallorca, following a less-than-perfect stay at Zoetry’s Dominican Republic property, I was keen to find out if Zoetry could deliver on this promise in the Spanish sunshine.

What is Zoetry Mallorca?

BEN SMITHSON/THE POINTS GUY

Formerly the Hilton Sa Torre, Zoetry Mallorca joined World of Hyatt in late 2022.

One of just eight Zoetry properties worldwide, the property is in Llucmajor, near the southeast coast of the Spanish island of Mallorca. By car, the property is 15 minutes away from Palma de Mallorca International Airport (PMI) and 20 minutes from Palma, the largest city on the island (and well worth a visit for the spectacular oceanfront Catedral-Basílica de Santa María de Mallorca).

British and German tourists have long favored this Balearic island thanks to its long, hot summers, beautiful beaches and alfresco lifestyle. United flies seasonally to Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

How to book Zoetry Mallorca

HYATT.COM

As a Category C all-inclusive property, Zoetry Mallorca can be booked for 25,000 World of Hyatt points per night for entry-level rooms, or 40,000 points per night for standard suites on standard dates, both of which include Endless Privileges (all-inclusive) for up to two guests. Additional guests can be added for 12,500 points per person, per night.

As a seasonal property open from late April to late October each year, cash rates range from $175 for entry-level rooms with breakfast to $325 for Endless Privileges on off-peak dates, to $277 bed and breakfast/$448 for Endless Privileges per night on peak dates for double occupancy. As TPG values Hyatt points at 1.7 cents each, this would be a great use of points during peak summer dates where cash prices are higher but in shoulder periods like May and October, check cash rates as you may find a better deal there.

Stay in a traditional Mallorcan-style manor house, but hire a car

Far from a cookie-cutter new build high-rise building plonked along the coast, the property is steeped in history and tradition with the main accommodation and dining building housed in a 14th-century rural estate.

The resort feels very remote, with winding lanes alongside farming paddocks leading to the property. This affords great privacy and tranquility while you are on-site, with no other properties, noise or general public anywhere. But, you will need a car as it’s at least a 15-minute drive to the nearest beaches of Cala Marcal and Cala Brafi.

There’s an on-site church and windmill

BEN SMITHSON/THE POINTS GUY

The property is full of character and kids and kids-at-heart alike will find plenty of wonderful surprises as they explore the acres of gardens and olive trees. An imposing traditional flour mill is near the main entrance, and a beautiful neo-Gothic church can be found adjacent to the main buildings.

Both structures are breathtaking and would be a perfect social media backdrop for a wedding, with the ceremony in the church followed by sunset cocktails and canapes under the windmill.

Other facilities for guests include two grass tennis courts (Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal was born on the island) and even a full-sized football pitch, a hotel amenity I have never before witnessed.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable

With my low-level Discoverist status, I was upgraded within the category from a base-level 350-square-foot Ponent Room to a slightly larger 400-square-foot Ponent Deluxe Room. Inside the spacious room was a king-size bed with more pillows than I knew what to do with, a chaise-style day bed, a desk with an ergonomic chair and a flat-screen television.

In-room amenities included fluffy bathrobes, an in-wardrobe safe, a complimentary minibar with beer, wine, juices, soft drinks, still and sparkling water and potato chips that were restocked daily, as well as a welcome gift — a bottle of Tunel, an herbal spirit made on the island.

Double doors opened to a private terrace with outdoor cafe seating and a sofa, and shrubbery to provide just enough privacy while enjoying the endless Spanish sunshine.

The bathroom had its drawbacks, with the shower over the bathtub and only a single vanity. Toiletries from Argan Meadow, a backlit makeup mirror and heated towel racks did provide a luxurious touch.

Families and adults are both catered to

Zoetry welcomes guests of all ages and offers a family pool and a separate adults-only pool. There were plenty of cushioned sun loungers and a bar and poolside dining located next to the family pool. This did seem like a design flaw, as most of the food and drinks were ordered by those at the adult pool, and guests had to walk to the bar to order food and drinks (though orders were cheerfully delivered directly to sunloungers by staff).

The central courtyard is a wonderful place to dine

BEN SMITHSON/THE POINTS GUY

Along with the setting and service, food and beverage is where the property shone. Zoetry’s two main restaurants, Es Mercat (European) and Ses Bovedes (tapas) have separate entrances, menus and staff; however, guests for both are seated in adjoining areas of the outdoor terrace. It’s a lovely space for dinner as the sun sets and the temperatures become more pleasant.

Endless Privileges guests can forget queueing at a buffet to pile their plates from bain maries; everything for lunch and dinner is a la carte. Guests on the all-inclusive plan can also enjoy gourmet treats like candied artichokes with romesco sauce and fried almonds, veal loin and carpaccio, baked sea bream and even beef tenderloin.

Everything was beautifully presented and delicious.

The only buffet you will see at the property is during breakfast at Es Mercat; however, a full a la carte option, including barista-made espresso coffee, is also available. The indoor space is dramatic and high-end, with high ceilings, indoor plants and backlit shelving displaying local handicrafts.

The breakfast buffet features local Mallorcan delicacies like ensaimada (a sweet pastry made with pork lard), sobrasada (raw cured pork sausage) and cremadillos (empanada-shaped puff pastry filled with custard). Endless Privileges guests can also order a la carte options like avocado toast, croque monsieur with scrambled eggs or even a full English breakfast.

Zoetry also has an additional dining experience by Michelin-starred chef Andreu Genestra; however, this is not included for Endless Privileges guests. Prices start from 125 euros ($139) for food-only set menus.

Endless Privileges means everything is included, including a massage

I was impressed with just how much was included in the all-inclusive price which was ultimately great value. I enjoyed a complimentary 20-minute head, back and shoulder massage at the Pure Spa with an indoor pool for guests. There is also an air-conditioned gym to work off those Endless Privileges.

While other all-inclusive resorts I’ve stayed at in Spain have only included a single tap beer and the most bottom-shelf spirits available, everything except for Champagne and vintage wines are available for Endless Privileges guests at Zoetry.

This included (but was not limited to);

  • 10 different local and international beers
  • 10 different Spanish wines by the glass
  • The best frozen daiquiri I have ever experienced, among the dozen cocktails and mocktails
  • More than 30 different name-brand liquors, including Aperol, Hendricks gin, Belvedere and Grey Goose vodka, Don Julio’s Reposado Tequila, Plantation Trinidad rum and Lagavulin 16 and Nikka Yochi single-malt whiskey.

With some of these drinks charged to room-only guests at up to 18 euros ($20) each, Endless Privileges guests could easily recoup $100 daily on drinks alone.

Complimentary room service is available 24 hours

BEN SMITHSON/THE POINTS GUY

Endless Privileges guests can enjoy unlimited room service around the clock at any time during their stay at no extra cost or tray fee, with favorites like Caesar salad, beef burger and fries, tomato and basil pasta, and apple pie with ice cream on the menu.

My steak sandwich with potato wedges was the perfect lunch on my private terrace.

Nothing is too much trouble

BEN SMITHSON/THE POINTS GUY

In my previous all-inclusive stays, I found the service pleasant and well-intentioned but not impressive or polished. Zoetry Mallorca provided outstanding service from start to finish, and this seasoned traveler was constantly and pleasantly surprised. Some examples that went above and beyond what I expected at any all-inclusive resort:

  • After spotting a hard-to-find spirit behind the bar, I ordered a margarita from the main Sa Clastra bar and asked if this could be made with mezcal rather than tequila. The bartender confessed this was the first time he had been asked to make this famous cocktail with mezcal. After delivering it to my seat, he returned a few minutes later to inquire if I thought it was well prepared so he knew for next time.
  • The night before departure I stopped by the front desk to request a later checkout, a published benefit of my World of Hyatt status. The staff member advised me this couldn’t be confirmed until the following morning and requested I stop by then. On my way to the breakfast restaurant the next morning, I walked past him in the corridor. As he soon as he saw me, he advised me that he’d already followed up on my request, and I could check out at 2 p.m.
  • While enjoying an evening glass of wine under a tree in the courtyard, a passing staff member observed that a tiny leaf, so small I hadn’t noticed, had found its way into my glass. They apologized profusely and immediately replaced it with a new glass and a fresh pour of wine.

Reasons Zoetry Mallorca may not be for you

BEN SMITHSON/THE POINTS GUY
  • If you do not have a rental car, the location is pricey and logistically challenging to reach.
  • While the three on-site pools are great, this property is not close to a beach, so if you want to be within walking distance from some of the best beaches in Spain, you may wish to choose another property closer to the coast.
  • Poolside guests at the adults-only pool must order food or drinks at the family pool bar, as staff do not pass by here to take orders.
  • Nighttime entertainment is only offered a few times a week and is background music rather than a captivating spectacle.
  • You can expect the resort area to be dry and dusty in summer, as Mallorca is not a lush tropical paradise.

Accessibility

BEN SMITHSON/THE POINTS GUY

Except for the gym and meeting rooms, all of the public facilities at Zoetry Mallorca are on the ground floor, with flat surfaces everywhere and wide walkways for guests with limited mobility. Some guest rooms are located on the main building’s first and second floors; however, elevators are available.

The adults-only swimming pool has a special mechanically operated seat to raise and lower guests who may need it to get in and out of the water.

Checking out

As someone who likes but doesn’t love most all-inclusive resorts, I was blown away by Zoetry Mallorca. The historic property was beautiful, with endless nooks and surprises to explore. I enjoyed everything I ate and drank during my stay, whether delivered to my room, served by the pool under the trees or in the beautiful courtyard between the two restaurants.

Unlike my Zoetry experience in the Dominican Republic last year, the service made this a true luxury experience. Every staff member was a delight, and the attention to detail constantly impressed me. While not the cheapest all-inclusive in Spain, it was excellent value for the volume and quality of everything included.

If you haven’t thought all-inclusive resorts are for you, I encourage you to try this property as it’s everything an all-inclusive should be, and far and away the best all-inclusive experience I’ve ever had.
