Atlanta, Indiana is a town of less than 1,000 people in northern Hamilton County, but each year on the fourth weekend of September, the town welcomes thousands of visitors for a popular fall festival.
2023 Festival Information
Celebrating 50 years, the 2023 Atlanta New Earth Festival is Saturday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., located at 105 E. Main Street in Atlanta, Indiana.
History
This is Hamilton County’s longest-running and largest festival. It started in 1974 with just 25 vendors. The name “new earth” comes from one of the original art shops in Atlanta, called “A Touch of Earth.”
What to Expect
The focus is on handcrafted items. More than 600 vendors are on-site, including arts and crafts, pottery, clothing, jewelry, antiques, collectibles and home décor plus a farmers’ market, kids’ zone, food and juried art area.

While you’re in town, visit Mr. Muffin’s Trains, Choo Choo Cafe. Explore the four towns in northern Hamilton County, including popular attractions like Stuckey Farm Orchard and Cider Mill, Blackhawk Winery and Vineyard and Strawtown Koteewi Park.
Don’t miss the Carmel International Arts Festival in the Carmel Arts & Design District, which conveniently falls on the same weekend. It’s an easy 30-minute drive south of Atlanta for even more shopping, food and entertainment.
