Production of the Audi TT is wrapping up after 25 years on sale in some markets, but the legendary sports car is being sent out in style.
The current, third-generation TT has been on sale in Australia since 2014. It’s been widely reported in Europe and the USA it will be the final version, as there’s no word of a replacement from within Audi.
To commemorate the end of the third-generation car, and potentially the TT name, Audi has detailed a range of Final Edition models. The Audi TT Final Edition range will go on sale in the UK in March ahead of first customer deliveries in April.
At this stage it’s unclear if Audi plans to offer these Final Edition models. The full TT, TT S, and TT RS coupe ranges are all still listed on the local website for now, following the axing of the convertible and manual variants in 2019.
We’ve reached out to Audi Australia and will update this story once we hear back.
UK-bound Final Edition models are available in both standard TT and hotter TT S guises with coupe and roadster body styles. They follow the TT RS Iconic Edition, which was the runout version of the flagship, five-cylinder-powered TT.
On the outside they have a black styling pack which consists of black Audi badging, black door mirrors, black tailpipes, and a black fixed rear spoiler.
Convertible models have a black rollover bar and wind diffuser, whereas coupe models get privacy glass.
They also have 20-inch matte grey diamond cut alloy wheels as standard, with sportier TT S models getting anthracite black alloy wheels instead with a gloss turned finish.
Buyers will be able to choose from three colours as standard: Tango Red, Glacier White and Chronos Grey.
Inside there’s an extended leather pack, an Alcantara steering wheel with red stitching and 12 o’clock marker, as well as Tango Red accents on the seats, air vents and centre console.
Other interior features include a Bang & Olufsen sound system, satellite navigation, keyless entry, reversing camera, and front and rear parking sensors.
The Audi TT was first shown off as a prototype study at the 1995 Frankfurt motor show. It went on sale in other markets in 1998, with the Australian launch following a year later.
The current model TT is the third-generation and has been on sale since 2014. It received a minor facelift in 2019.
“Few models have lasted the test of time as well as the Audi TT,” said Audi UK director Andrew Doyle.
“The crisp, Bauhaus-inspired lines of the sports coupé look as fresh today as they did back in 1998 and to mark the model’s incredible success here in the UK our Final Edition combines everything our customers love about this iconic model.”
The Audi TT range is currently priced locally from $84,000 before on-road costs for the 45 TFSI quattro, and extends to $141,300 before on-roads for the TT RS.
