The luxurious Banyan Tree brand is slated for a Caribbean expansion.
Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences is on track to open in early 2025. The planned 50-suite, 54-residence property will sit on the secluded Bahamian island of Bimini, located just 48 nautical miles east of Miami.
The resort developers are quick to tout the property’s convenient location: By plane, it’s less than 30 minutes away from Miami and within three hours of New York City, as well as a few other major U.S. cities.
The Caribbean expansion brings Banyan Tree (which is primarily found in Asia but also has properties in Mexico and the Middle East) ever closer to the U.S.
“Since the onset of this project, my focus has always been to assemble a world-class team dedicated to elevating the island to new heights,” said Rafael Reyes, owner of Banyan Tree Bimini development firm Rockwell Island Development Group, in a statement. “Being the closest Bahamian island to the US, Bimini is a hidden gem that world-class travelers will soon get to experience. Time slows down here, and life unfolds effortlessly.”
Accommodations will be split between 24 beachfront villas and 26 overwater bungalows, as you’d expect in the Maldives. All suites feature a private terrace and a pool.

For those looking for a more permanent tie to Banyan Tree, private residences at the resort start at $3.5 million. All residences are on the waterfront and include a private dock and beach access. Owners can also request to join a rental program managed by Banyan Tree.
Banyan Tree Bimini will have many unique amenities for guests to enjoy, including a beach club, a lounge, a signature restaurant, a library and a bar — all of which will focus on locally sourced and seasonal cuisine. Of course, no Banyan Tree is complete without the brand’s signature Banyan Tree Spa, which will also be available at the Bimini resort.
Alongside its standout, luxurious accommodations, Banyan Tree is well known for curating local experiences at its hotels and resorts.
“The Banyan Tree brand embodies intimacy, nature and local traditions, and Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences reflects these values by embracing the local culture and natural environment, inviting guests to immerse themselves in this Sanctuary for the Senses,” Eddy See, president and CEO of Banyan Group, said in a statement.
