Blacked-out Suzuki Swift Shadow fashions be part of vary

Suzuki has introduced two new blacked-out Swift variants to the local lineup, following similar versions joining the Ignis, Vitara, and also now-defunct Baleno ranges.

The Suzuki Swift GL Shadow and Swift GLX Turbo Shadow are priced from $28,490 drive-away and $33,990 drive-away, respectively. These new variants are $4500 and $2700 more expensive, respectively, than the cars they’re based on.

For this extra money the two Swift Shadow models gain 16-inch black alloy wheels, black side mirror covers, black decals, as well as a Shadow badge. All other specifications are identical.

The Swift GL Shadow continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing 66kW of power and 120Nm of torque. This is mated exclusively to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The Swift GLX Turbo Shadow on the other hand continues to be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine producing 82kW and 160Nm. This is mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.

As previously reported, Suzuki Australia has been rolling out a range of permanent blacked-out variants. The Swift Shadow is now the final piece of this puzzle.

The range technically started with the limited-edition Baleno Shadow that was introduced as a send-off special, and was then followed by the Ignis Shadow and Vitara Shadow.

The current, third-generation Swift hatchback was revealed in 2016 and received a facelift in 2020.

Until the end of August this year, Suzuki has sold a total of 4615 examples of the Swift in Australia. This makes it the second top-selling light car, following the MG 3 (10,642 sales).

The Suzuki Swift outsold the likes of the soon-to-be-axed Kia Rio (3943 sales), Mazda 2 (3548 sales), as well as the Toyota Yaris (1277 sales).
