BMW i4 eDrive35 weapons for Tesla with sharper beginning worth

BMW has cut the price of entry to its i4 electric car range with the addition of a new eDrive35 model.

The 2024 i4 eDrive35 will hit Australian showrooms before the end of 2023, with a sticker price of $85,900 before on-road costs.

That means the i4 is now below the $89,332 fuel efficient vehicles cutoff for the Luxury Car Tax – and is eligible for the Fringe Benefits Tax exemption if you’re a fleet or novated lease buyer.

Under the skin, the i4 eDrive35 features a 67kWh lithium-ion battery pack good for a claimed 430km of range.

11kW AC and 180kW DC charging is standard. With 210kW of power and 400Nm of torque, the eDrive 35 hits 100km/h in six seconds from standstill.

More expensive i4 models feature a larger 84kWh battery pack, and more power from their electric motors.

Standard equipment in the i4 eDrive35 includes:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Tyre repair kit
  • LED headlights with auto high-beam
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop/go
  • Parking assistant
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system
    • Wireless smartphone mirroring
    • DAB+ digital radio
  • Head-up display
  • Tri-zone climate control
  • Power front seats
  • Sensatec faux leather trim
  • Keyless entry and start
  • Ambient interior lighting
  • Wireless phone charger
  • 12-month Chargefox subscription
