BMW utilizing Chinese language electrical van for metro components transport

BMW Australia has made a very interesting choice in delivery van for its parts and accessories logistics – an LDV eDeliver 9.

Stationed at the BMW Sydney and Mini Garage Sydney company-owned dealership, the electric van has been given a “distinctive livery” and will be used to deliver genuine accessories and parts to “selected locations in the Sydney metropolitan area”, including Accredited BMW Bodyshops.

The LDV eDeliver 9 will be used for a three-month trial, during which BMW will “assess its operational viability and explore the potential to increase the number of EVs on the road to complete delivery and collection jobs”.

BMW notes in its media release that the LDV eDeliver 9 offers up to 280km of driving range on the WLTP cycle, as well as “substantial cargo capacity” of 10.9 cubic metres with a 1410kg payload. The van will be charged between jobs using on-site BMW Wallbox chargers.

“There are numerous advantages to a fully electric van on an operational level, chiefly zero tailpipe emissions and noise reduction,” said Peter Kallitsis, BMW Sydney and Mini Garage Sydney dealer principal.

“This has benefits for our roadways and provides a cleaner option for our staff when they are working around the van and loading or unloading cargo in confined indoor areas.”

“However, it also contributes in a meaningful way to the BMW Group’s global goal to reduce C02 emissions across the entire value chain – of which logistics are a key element – by 40 percent from 2019 levels by the year 2030.”

BMW Australia hasn’t detailed its existing van of choice for daily logistical operations within its dealer network.
