Breeze Orders 10 Extra Airbus Plane

Breeze Airways has opted to purchase an additional 10 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, bringing its firm orders to 90 with 30 options remaining, the carrier announced Tuesday.

“And we fully anticipate exercising those [30] as well,” Breeze CEO David Neeleman said on a Tuesday media call. “All of these 90 aircraft are scheduled to arrive by the end of 2028.”

Neeleman also announced that Breeze plans to transition all its commercial service to the A220-300 by the end of 2024, with its Embraer E190 and E195 jets to be used for charter flights.

The carrier currently operates 22 A220-300s and expects to have 32 by the end of this year, according to Neeleman.

In addition, Breeze announced it would complete the installation of Viasat’s high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi across its A220 fleet by early in the second quarter. Further, effective today, all customers in the “Nicer” or “Nicest” cabins will receive complimentary Wi-Fi. For those in the “Nice” cabin, Wi-Fi costs $8 or 800 BreezePoints per flight segment. Text messaging is free for all passengers.
