Bugatti invited 18 owners from around the world to complete a 400km/h hot lap at the Kennedy Space Center.
Across four days in April 2023, Bugatti gave owners an experience of a lifetime to surpass speeds of 400km/h in their hypercars.
The 400 Drive saw all guests reach speeds of 412km/h while travelling down the historic final destination of NASA space shuttles between 1979 and 2011.
All participants received a certificate, personalised race suit, and a personalised helmet.
The brand released a video on YouTube to celebrate the experience.
“To travel at 400 km/h and above you need absolute confidence in the car,” said Bugatti Greenwich brand manager Evan Cygler.
“It’s an intense and exhilarating experience that depends on you and the car being in peak condition and fortunate enough to have the perfect environmental conditions; not too windy, nor too hot, not too wet.
“With the expert guidance of the Bugatti team, I could break through 400 km/h. The Chiron Super Sport felt as capable at 400 km/h as it did at 200 km/h.
“It’s an experience I’ll never forget and that only reinforces my passion for the incredible Bugatti brand.”
The Chiron, which exited production in 2022, has a 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16 engine that produces 1103kW of power and 1600Nm of torque, with a 0-100km/h time of 2.4 seconds.
In 2017, the Chiron set its first production car record with a 0-400-0km/h time of 41.96 seconds.
In 2019, a near-production Chiron prototype surpassed the 300mph (482.8km/h) threshold and was able to clock a top speed of 304.773mph (490.484km/h).
To commemorate this record, Bugatti released a Chiron Super Sport 300+ in 2019 that was limited to 30 examples and resembles the prototype. It also received a power bump, to 1176kW.
