Chase quietly opened reservations for its lounge on the US Open, however there’s already a waitlist

While American Express publicly opened reservations via Resy for its Centurion Lounge at the 2023 U.S. Open Tennis Championships on Aug. 10, Chase appeared to open reservations for its competing lounge Wednesday without notice.

Lounge access seems to already be largely waitlisted for all cardholders, including those with premium cards.

Eleven TPG staffers with various Chase cards, specifically the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Ink Business Cash Credit Card and IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card, were unable to reserve any spots.

Based on this extremely limited availability, here’s what you need to know to attempt to reserve your spot at the U.S. Open, running from Aug. 28 to Sept. 10.

How to sign up for the Chase Pass

CHASE.COM

To access U.S. Open benefits as a Chase cardholder, you must sign up for the Chase Pass, which you’ll receive after signing up via email with a unique QR code. Save or screenshot this QR code, as you’ll need to scan this to access the lounge and other perks at the tournament, including:

  • Chase Lounge access: Indoor, air-conditioned space with refreshments, including a coffee bar and a happy hour. Reservations are required, and a waitlist is available online and in person.
  • Chase Terrace access: Next to the grandstand, this is outdoors with shaded seating, refreshments and viewing of courts 8, 9 and 10. Capacity is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • A chance to win giveaways at the South Plaza booths, including seat upgrades, concessions and vouchers.
  • One complimentary beverage during Chase happy hours at select locations.

To sign up for a Chase Pass, users must create an account and register their email address, as shown below. Note this account is entirely separate from your Chase banking account.

From there, click “Reserve Now” for the U.S. Open to continue enrolling for the Chase Pass.

Next, you’ll see which days have availability at this point. Of the 19 sessions, seven had availability, but when I clicked “Reserve,” I could only be added to the waitlist, which was also the case for my fellow TPG staffers who tried.

Bottom line

The indoor Chase Lounge and outdoor terrace appear to be fully booked for the 2023 U.S. Open, regardless of credit card. Even so, register for a Chase Pass and sign up for the waitlist in case spots open up.

If you are able to reserve a spot, be sure to bring your Chase Pass QR code for access.
