New vehicle sales in Kazakhstan shoot up 56.1% year-on-year in April to 14,379 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 63.6% to 51,673. Chevrolet (+33.3%) trails the market but overtakes Hyundai (+100.2%) to #1, with Kia (+116.1%) and Chery (+316.5%) also in fantastic shape just below. Chery passes Toyota (-34.5%) to #4 year-to-date as a result. JAC (+118.5%) is up to #6 ahead of Haval (+5971.4%!) and newcomer Changan (#8). Lexus (+47.4%) gains one spot on March to #9 and GAZ (+328.4%) rounds out the Top 10. Recent launches Exeed and Geely follow.
Over in the models lane, the Chevrolet Cobalt (+34%) easily retains the top spot with a gargantuan 19.7% share, with the Kia Sportage (+11640%) up one rank on last month to #2. The Hyundai Tucson (+598.6%) is down one to #3 while the Chevrolet Nexia (+109.3%) remains in 4th place. The Hyundai Bayon is up 8 spots to score its first ever Top 10 finish, directly landing at #5. The Hyundai Elantra (+42.9%), Santa Fe (+172.3%) and Sonata (+22.6%) follow.
