Chevrolet at highest in over 6 years, market again in constructive – Finest Promoting Vehicles Weblog


Chevrolet holds 21.3% share in Uruguay in May.

Sales of new light vehicles in Uruguay return to positive in May at +7.2% year-on-year to 4,721 units. The year-to-date tally tilts into positive as a result at +0.6% to 21,232. Chevrolet (+21.2%) surges to a massive 21.3% share, its highest since February 2017 (22.4%) and selling more than twice the amount of any other carmaker in the country. Fiat (+104.2%) follows in second place with 10.3% share with Volkswagen (-10.4%) in difficulty just 7 sales below. Suzuki (+240.5%) tumbles down to #10 despite a shiny year-on-year growth (May 2021 was particularly low) and goes from #2 year-to-date to #4, being overtaken by Fiat and Volkswagen. Peugeot (+119%), Citroen (+74.6%) and Nissan (+19.1%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Hyundai (-67.5%), Renault (-32.3%) and Toyota (-0.8%) slow down.
