Chevrolet Corvette Z06 worth locked in for Australia

The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will be priced above $300,000 when it hits Australia.

The hottest petrol-only Corvette will start arriving in Australia late in 2023, priced from $336,000 before on-road costs – a $121,000 increase over the most expensive 3LT Convertible sitting below it in the range.

Power in the Z06 comes from a 5.5-litre flat-plane crank V8 making 475kW and 595Nm, mated with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

That means Australia is receiving the less powerful European tune, rather than the American tune.

Our list of standard equipment will match what’s called the 3LZ trim in America. That means we’ll get a steering wheel finished with carbon fibre, suede microfibre trim on the doors, leather-trimmed door and dashboard panels, and GT2 bucket seats.

A Z07 Performance Package brings larger carbon ceramic brakes, carbon exterior highlights, unique suspension tuning, stickier tyres, and carbon fibre wheels developed by Carbon Revolution in Geelong, Victoria.

GM Specialty Vehicles hasn’t confirmed how many will come Down Under, but says the car will be a “measured volume proposition”.

“We appreciate this may disappoint many performance enthusiasts, but at the same time it will ensure those who do become a Z06 owner will know they possess a very special piece of automotive folklore,” said Greg Rowe, GMSV director.

Although it’s currently the most expensive GMSV model in Australia, the Z06 will likely be usurped atop the range when the Corvette E-Ray touches down.
