Chevrolet takes cost in market up 7.2% – Greatest Promoting Automobiles Weblog

52,857 new light vehicles found a home in Uruguay in 2022, a solid 7.2% year-on-year lift. This year Chevrolet (+54.3%) roars into the top spot with 14.1% share vs. 9.8% in 2021, delivering the largest gain in the Top 10. Volkswagen (-0.3%) stays in 2nd place but loses almost one percentage point of share to 11.4%. Renault (+3.2%) also camps on its 2021 ranking at #3 while Hyundai (+19.2%) is up two spots to #4. #1 last year, Fiat (-23.1%) sinks to 5th place, distancing Suzuki (-5.6%) down two ranks to #4 and Toyota (+20.4%) up two to #7. Citroen (+36.6%) and Peugeot (+11.9%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10.

Over in the models ranking, the Hyundai HB20 (+16.2%) overtakes the Fiat Strada (-11.5%) to snap the top spot, Uruguay being the only market in the world to crown this nameplate. The Chevrolet Joy (+100.7%) doubles its sales year-on-year and gains six spots on 2021 to close the podium. The Renault Oroch (+21.4%) is also up the ladder at #4 as its the Chevrolet Onix (+51.6%) up five ranks to #5. All other Top 10 models drop down the charts bar the Suzuki Celerio now among the 10 best-selling nameplates in the country.
