Chocolate No Bake Peanut Butter Balls

We made these no-bake peanut butter balls for a girlfriend who just had her first baby. We made them at Emily’s house because she had all of the ingredients and then we could hang out her with boys.

It was a perfect recipe to make with a toddler because they can help roll all the balls once they are mixed up. I’m pretty sure Bode ate the equivalent of about 5 balls while were making these, but that’s OK😜!

These little balls of heaven are packed with fiber, protein, healthy fats, and a good amount of carbs to fuel you for whatever you need them for! This particular recipe is special in that it does not require a food processor which is usually used to grind the oats and all of the other ingredients together. Furthermore, there are no dates involved.

We’ve gotten both of these requests for our no-bake protein balls quite a few times over the years, and we finally came up with a super simple recipe that does just that –> combines all of the same flavors of our classic no-bake peanut butter balls, but with no kitchen equipment and no dates.

Ingredients for No Bake Peanut Butter Balls

The ingredient list for these balls is short. You will need old-fashioned rolled oats, cocoa powder, peanut butter, honey, and a little bit of salt. We tried to keep this recipe simple by using ingredients we most likely already have in the pantry.

Substitutions and Variations

  • You can use old-fashioned rolled oats or quick-cooking oats in this recipe. The old-fashioned oats will give a bit more texture and the quick-cooking oats will create more of a homogeneous ball.
  • We used cocoa powder to make these chocolatey. You can also substitute some of the cocoa powder for chocolate protein powder. We do not recommend using only protein powder, cocoa powder adds the best chocolatey flavor.
  • If you end up using both cocoa powder and chocolate protein powder, you may need to add a bit more honey to make sure they stick together.

Storage Suggestions

We suggest placing all the balls on a plate and transferring them to the freezer for 15-20 minutes for them to set and become less sticky. Remove them from the freezer and transfer them to an air-tight container or a freezer-safe bag. Store them for up to 3 months in the freezer.
