The U.S. Transportation Administration has added Clear as
its third approved TSA PreCheck enrollment provider, joining Idemia and Telos,
the agency announced Tuesday.
Clear initially will offer TSA PreCheck enrollment and
renewal services at three airports, Orlando International Airport (6 a.m. to 8
p.m.), Sacramento International Airport (6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Friday
and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays) and Newark Liberty International Airport (6
a.m. to 8 p.m.). There is no need for an appointment, and the company plans to
expand enrollment locations over time, according to Clear.
Clear’s fee to enroll in TSA PreCheck is $77.95 for five
years. Online renewals are $68.95, while in-person renewals are $77.95. The
company will continue to operate its identity verification technology at the
airports where it is currently available as an airport contractor and
Registered Traveler program participant, according to Clear and TSA.
Beginning today, TSA PreCheck members can renew their
memberships with Clear, Idemia or Telos, regardless of which company they
enrolled with initially, according to TSA.
Clear
last week was in the news as part of a California state bill that seeks to
limit Clear operations at California airports beyond the nine it which it
currently operates unless the company gets a dedicated security lane at any new
California airport locations.
