But here’s the truth: Fish eat year-round, and with the right strategy, you can still bust the bass during the coldest months.
Most anglers think deep water is the only winter option. But what if you can’t reach those deep spots? Then you’ll need to find the next warmest spot in the lake: hard structures.
On sunny days, as the day progresses, hard structures absorb sunlight and warm up. This heat transfers into the surrounding water, creating a small but crucial temperature difference. While it may be as little as a 5-degree difference, it is enough to attract baitfish and, consequently, hungry winter bass preparing for the spring spawn.
