The Cupra Leon breaks into the Austrian Top 20 for the first time.

The Austrian new car market rallies back up 20.6% year-on-year in May to 20,623 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 19% to 102,179. The top four manufacturers all vastly outpace the market. Volkswagen (+34.6%) is on top as usual with 15.1% share, distancing Skoda (+38.5%), BMW (+30.6%) and Audi (+34.8%), making sure the Top 4 is identical to April and year-to-date. Seat (+2.5%) is up four spots on April to #5 but can only muster a feeble year-on-year gain. Tesla (+2726.7%) surges to #7 vs. #10 so far this year, while Cupra (+29.8%) breaks into the Top 10 for the first time at #10 and also breaks its volume and share records at 794 and 3.8%. MG (+207.4%), Dacia (+80.3%) and Mitsubishi (+51.2%) also shine below.

Over in the models lane, the Skoda Octavia (+182.4%) repeats at #1 with 3.7% share ahead of the Tesla Model Y (+2353.8%) which keeps the YTD lead for just 11 units. The VW T-Roc (+66.8%) is back up 11 ranks on last month to the third step on the podium while the Toyota Yaris/Cross (+45.2%) is down two to #4 and the VW Golf (+38.3%) down one to #5. The VW Caddy (+107.1%) is four to #6 above the BMW X1 (+158.9%) and Audi Q4 (+291.5%) both in sensational shape. Three Seat follow: the Ateca at #9, Ibiza at #10 and Arona at #11. The Cupra Leon (+1052%) scores its first ever Austrian Top 20 finish at #12. The Skoda Enyaq (+105.5%) and VW Tiguan (+65%) all make waves. Note there are 17 VW Group models in the Top 20.
