Dacia (+149%) impresses, Tesla Mannequin Y tops market up 11.1% – Greatest Promoting Automobiles Weblog

The Tesla Model Y is the best-selling vehicle in Austria in February.

After sinking -18.9% in February 2022, the Austrian new car market rallies back up 11.1% this month to 17,895 sales, leading to a year-to-date tally up 15.8% to 36,745 units. Volkswagen (+45.8%) compensates for a particularly drab year-ago volume to sail into the distance at 13.8% share. In fact, like last month and over the Full Year 2022 the entire podium is composed of VW Group brands, but there’s one difference. Skoda (+2.1%) holds 9.3% of the market and Audi (+6.4%) replaces Seat (-17.5%) at #3. BMW (+1.4%) edges up to stay at #4 followed by Mercedes (+45.1%) soaring to #5. Dacia (+149%) lodges the largest gain in the Top 25 and climbs to #6, its highest ranking since July 2022. Tesla (+96.1%) also shines at #7 while further down Cupra (+49.2%), MG (+112.8%) and Alfa Romeo (+231.3%) stand out.

Over in the models aisle, the Tesla Model Y (+70.8%) takes the lead for the third time ever after March and September 2022. After pointing in 13th position in January, it now ranks #3 year-to-date, like it did over the Full Year 2022. The Skoda Octavia (+34.1%) is also very solid at #2 and grabs the year-to-date top spot with sales up 27.1%, despite not ranking #1 in either month. The VW Golf (+90.7%) shows encouraging health at #3 and advances to #2 so far this year. The Dacia Sandero (+86.8%) completes a Top 4 vastly beating the market and is up 16 ranks on last month. The VW Tiguan (+41.4%), VW Caddy (+76%), last month’s leader the Seat Ateca (+42.4%) and the BMW X3 (+77.9%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10.
