Indonesia, like South East Asia, gets a specific Toyota Yaris Cross.
The Indonesian new vehicle wholesales market is up 4.3% year-on-year in June to 82,581 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 6.4% to 505,985. In contrast, retail sales drop -4.2% to 80,021 with a H1 2023 volume up 8% to 502,536. In the wholesales brands ranking, Toyota (-9.1%) endures the only year-on-year loss in the Top 7 but still holds a commanding 30% share, Daihatsu (+7%) is up to 21.9% share vs. 19.6% over H1 while Honda (+27.5%) surges ahead to remain in third place. Hyundai (+50.1%), Wuling (+33.5%), Mitsubishi (+17.1%) and Suzuki (+8.7%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10. Retail-wise, Toyota (-4.7%) reaches 32.6% share ahead of Daihatsu (-10.2%) and Honda (+3.5%), Hyundai (+75.7%) and Wuling (+13.5%) go against the negative market and post the only additional gains in the Top 10.
The Daihatsu Sigra (+0.1%) is stable and repeats at #1 with 6.5% share, only 55 sales above the Honda Brio (+18%). The Toyota Kijang Innova (+27.1%) stays in third place above the Toyota Avanza (+16.3%). The Avanza remains the best-seller over H1. The Calya (+1.5%) makes it three Toyotas in the Top 5, with the Daihatsu Terios (+87.3%), Ayla (+27.7%) and Mitsubishi Xpander (+13.6%) also very solid below. The Honda WR-V (#11) is the best-selling recent launch ahead of the Toyota Yaris Cross (#19), launching this month, the Hyundai Stargazer (#28), Wuling Alvez (#32) and Chery Omoda (#37).
