In a world of jumbo swimbaits and topwater plugs, things seem to be slowing down and going smaller. “Bait Finesse” is the new latest trend going through the largemouth and smallmouth bass world. So of course, Daiwa is quick to make sure anglers are well equipped by offering two new technique-specific reels for this. The already unveiled PX BF70 and the brand-new Tatula BF70 bait finesse baitcasting reel. The core principle of Bait Finesse (BF) is presenting a smaller, much more natural bait to fish all the while still having the same control and authority as their larger counterparts. To have said control and authority you need to downsize your gear, without sacrificing performance. Thats where specialized gear such as the Tatula BF70 comes into the picture.
Daiwa Coverage on AllOutdoor
DAIWA Marketing Manager calls BF “ninja fishing,” the technique employed by bright-minded “bank beaters” who ply small lakes, ponds, streams, and canals. It’s about traveling light with technical and tactical gear to target often pressured fish in tight confines.
Casts are short, fired with GPS-guided missile accuracy. Adding to the challenge is the lightness of the lures. We’re talking one- and two-inch crankbaits, hair jigs, inline spinners, lightly weighted plastics and the like.
To achieve this level of control, DAIWA injected exceptional technologies into a fantastically lightweight, palmable baitcasting reel. Mills said DAIWA eliminated as much weight as possible while maintaining outstanding performance.
The BF70’s spool is machined out of A7075 aircraft-grade aluminum, for a lighter spool that has minimal starting inertia but still is plenty strong. The reel also comes equipped with Daiwa’s exclusive T-Wing System to offer smoother casting and line lay, making for a superior combination for Bait Finesse fishing. Beyond just that technology of course the reels come loaded with Daiwa’s other technologies such as; the Ultimate Tournament Drag system, Hyperdrive Design gearing, and the Zero Adjuster reel tuning system. These reels are going to be available in both a right and left-handed model and have an MSRP of $239.99.
