DYNAFIT’s new Speed Factory headquarters opened on Sept. 19 in Kiefersfelden, Germany. It aims to provide an immersive “brand experience” for athletes, brand fans, and staff. The new facility has a retail store, a bistro, a repair center, and a ski factory — all open for public use, DYNAFIT told GearJunkie. Customers can access boot fitting and running analysis and even build their own custom DYNAFIT skis.

“The Speed Factory is a 100% DYNAFIT brand experience and the perfect location for our entire team to push the boundaries of athletic mountain sports,” DYNAFIT’s International CEO, Benedikt Böhm, said in a press release. “The proximity to the mountains and the modern work areas are an absolute inspiration. The entire building, with its clear yet innovative style, fits us perfectly as a brand.”

The new Speed Factory is situated at the northern gateway to the Alps and took two and a half years to build. Celebrated Barcelona-based architect KBarozzi Viega designed the building after he won an international design competition hosted by DYNAFIT. The six-floor, 108,000-square-foot headquarters resembles two interlocking illuminated mountain peaks. It’s a futuristic and minimalist-looking building.

DYNAFIT hopes that its proximity to the mountains will make this headquarters a meet-up place for mountain athletes and adventurers who want to dive deep on technique, refine their gear, and fuel up with some healthy food.

“We look forward to bringing every visitor here in Kiefersfelden closer to the DYNAFIT DNA in all its diversity — by athletes for athletes,” Böhm said.

The headquarters’ public areas are described as a “DYNAFIT experience zone.” The Bivouac Bistro is a place for visitors, mountain athletes, and DYNAFIT staff to relax, recharge, and eat. The menu is stacked with regional and primarily vegetarian meals from DYNAFIT-sponsored athletes’ favorite recipes.

Then there is the Care & Repair Center. Visitors can bring equipment from any Oberalp Group brand (DYNAFIT, Salewa, Pomoca, Wild Country, LaMunt, and Evolv) for specialized service and repairs. It’s part of DYNAFIT’s commitment to becoming more eco-conscious, focusing on repair and reuse instead of replacement.

Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of the Speed Factory that the public can engage with is the Ski Factory. There, customers can build custom skis through a series of evening and Saturday workshops. Trained DYNAFIT ski professionals help you select the ski shape and materials and refine your design. A full-day weekend course is $1,602, and an evening course is $1,381.

Of course, a headquarters like this wouldn’t be complete without a DYNAFIT retail shop. The latest season’s products will be on full display, as well as tried-and-true staples from the DYNAFIT universe and exclusive previews of next season’s innovations. That’s just on the product side, though. The store will also offer boot-fitting services, ski mounting, and professional running and foot analysis.

DYNAFIT wanted a place where its customers could come and experience its product development firsthand. With the Speed Factory, it hopes to have accomplished that goal.
